About this listing
Welcome to the spectacular mountains of Sarek. This national treasure keeps six of the highest mountains in the country and almost 100 glaciers. Here you can enjoy everything from freshwater pools, 360-degree granite terraces, an expansive shower (with fantastic water pressure), rustic bathrooms in original craft and soft natural carpeting throughout the accommodation.
I am born and raised in Kvikkjokk, and I have worked in and around Sarek for 25 years as a helicopter pilot. Few things in life are as lovely as the beautiful and serene view of Sarek from above. I feel both privileged and proud to be able to experience this every day.
Nature here overwhelms me with an intense feeling of remoteness. Far away from modern society, everything else can wait. No roads, no marked trails, no open cabins – just pure nature. For active people who are not opposed to spending some nights in a tent, Sarek is a great place to hike and ski. Here you can spot reindeer, brown bears, lynx, wolverines and, in my opinion the most impressive animal, the large moose.
Sarek is often referred to as the last wilderness in Europe. It’s so many things. It can be fantastic and really take your breath away, and at the same time, it can be completely ruthless and coarse. If you want to enter the actual national park of Sarek you have to prepare yourself for a wild adventure. Here, the power of nature rules!

Allemansrätten – or the freedom to roam – is a principle protected by Swedish law that gives all people the right to be free in Swedish nature. In other words, Swedish nature isn’t just a piece of land with trees and lakes and cliffs – it’s a home with all the necessities and amenities that any great home should have. It’s a place where you can eat berries from the ground, sleep under the stars, swim in the lakes and roam freely. To make this home available for everyone, Sweden has listed the entire country on Airbnb.
